MISSION STATEMENT

ANSWERS on abusebynuns is dedicated to exposing the issue of abuse by nuns, supporting those personally affected by it, and advocating for responsible and healing approaches in addressing it. Founded by a small group of women who were all sexually abused by women religious, ANSWERS on abusebynuns offers support, resources and opportunities to network with others who have experienced abuse. We recognize that any form of exploitation, be it sexual, emotional, physical, mental or spiritual, is wrong and can profoundly affect one's life in many ways. We represent those who were abused as children, youth, or vulnerable adults while in the care of nuns or within the charge of a religious community of women. We call upon the leaders of all communities of women religious, the organizations and dioceses that support them, and the Church hierarchy to take responsible action to deal with this issue and its tragic consequences.
